Michael Ferrari

Web Developer

Web Design, Development, and pretty much all things digital arts have been my passion since I was about 14 years old. Now, over 20 years later, I am lucky enough to call my greatest passion my career also.

I love to design and create, and I pride myself on my abilities to solve problems, and learn new skills needed to complete any project.

Web Development

I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, from small businesses to larger organizations. I specialize in building web projects from the ground up, leveraging tools and technologies such as Visual Studio, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, PHP, Sass, Susy, JavaScript, .NET, Node.js, and more. I’m committed to continuous learning and stay current with industry trends by exploring new frameworks, languages, and best practices through platforms like Udemy and other self-directed learning resources.

Web Design

With a strong foundation in web design, I’ve created visually engaging and user-friendly websites for clients across various industries. My design approach blends aesthetics with usability, using tools like HTML, CSS, Sass, and frameworks such as Bootstrap to craft responsive, accessible, and modern interfaces. I pay close attention to layout, typography, color theory, and user experience to ensure every design is both beautiful and functional. I continuously refine my design skills by staying up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and tools through self-guided learning.

UI/UX

In my approach to UI/UX design, I tailor every solution to the unique goals, audience, and context of each project. I take into account the product’s purpose, user needs, brand guidelines, and overall aesthetics to create intuitive, engaging, and functional user experiences. Whether starting from scratch or working within established systems, I focus on creating clear user flows, responsive interfaces, and visually consistent designs that enhance usability and reflect the brand’s identity. My process is driven by research, empathy, and a deep understanding of how design impacts interaction — always aiming to balance form and function.

About Me

With a lifelong passion for art and creativity, it was only natural that I gravitated toward graphic design and web development as technology became a central part of everyday life. What began as an early fascination has evolved into a 20+ year career in web design and development — driven by curiosity, exploration, and a constant desire to grow.

My design philosophy is rooted in creating purposeful, engaging experiences that balance form and function. I’m inspired by the world around me — whether it’s during a run, painting, listening to music, or simply taking in the details on a drive. I strive to bring that inspiration into every project, approaching design in fresh and thoughtful ways.

I hold three Associate Degrees from Naugatuck Valley Community College in 3D Graphic Animation, Audio and Video Production, and Web Development, graduating with honors in 2013. I continued my studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, earning a degree in Web Design and New Media.

Professionally, I served as Lead Web Developer and Designer at a California-based media company for seven years, where I also contributed to graphic design and video production efforts. For the past three years, I’ve worked at Wake Forest University as a Web Developer and Digital Media Producer, combining technical skill with creative direction to support digital communications and storytelling.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my portfolio.
